Robert Wilson (1798 -1874) baptized in the High Church, Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland; and would die in Ramsay Twp. (Almonte area), of Lanark County, Ontario. Similarly Peter’s wife Helen Thain (1796- ) was from Paisley. They were just teenagers – he 17 and she 16 – when they wed in 1815 in the local Middle Church, Paisley, Renfrew, Scotland.

3. Peter Wilson (1819 – 1877) m. Annie R. Bridget (1826-1899) in Almonte’s St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Lanark County in 1853. Annie was the daughter of Thomas Bridget (1785 – ) and Janet Stinson (1787 – 1859). The 1871 Census listed Peter and Annie as being unable to read or write. Annie died of pneumonia at age 72 and is buried in Cobden, Ont. 1899 Annie Death. The couple began their family in Ramsey Township and then moved northwest into Westmeath to take advantage of the better farmlands available.

By the next Upper Canada census, the Wilson’s had moved to Westmeath Township and the family had grown to eight children.

The family were Scotch Presbyterians and the children of the family attended S.S. NO. 9 Greenwood School.

The children  of Peter and Annie were:

i. Ellen Thain Wilson (1854 – 1926) m. Thomas Wilson (1839-1915)

Thomas Herbert Wilson (1858 – 1928) Ellen Campbell, in 1884, daughter of George Columbus Campbell (1823 – 1917) and Mary Ann Murdock (1827 – 1885), who was a blacksmith in Forester’s Falls, Ross Township. Thomas and Ellen moved to the USA in 1896 and by the census of 1900 they were settled in California in Los Angeles. They would raise eight children. In later years Ellen’s parents George and Mary Ann Campbell also moved there.
iv. Hugh Wilson (1859 – 1933) m. Martha Jean Eckford  1906 Hugh & Martha Marriage, daughter of William Eckford and Lyla Condie of Foresters Fall, Ross Twp.
v. Jennet Wilson (1861 – 1949) Andrew Eckford (18849-1926), son of James and Ellen Eckford of McNab Township. They would go west and settle in Fort Saskatchewan in the Alberta Territories. By 1916 they were living in Battle River, Alberta.

vi. Annie E. Wilson (1863 – 1912) m. Josiah Sloman (1848-1923) in Westmeath in 1895 and by 1901 Census they had settled in Clover Bar, Alberta, The Territories, Canada.
